After attending John Gill's very worthwhile and enjoyable SAFE Seminar on
Women's Self Defence, I highly recommend it for all women of any age. The
seminar was a comprehensive introduction into self defence techniques, with
the focus on being aware of, avoiding and escaping dangerous situations.
John provides a relaxed, fun, non-intimidating environment where techniques
for blocking an attack, getting out of holds, and if needed, how to hit and
what to hit were demonstrated, explained, and then practiced. The seminar
was completed with a presentation by peak performance coach, Richard Thorpe,
on the psychology of an attacker and how to develop an effective mindset for
self defence. The techniques were easier than I expected, and I came away
feeling empowered and more confident just walking to my car that evening!
